I've no pictures to show the true beauty that was this woman
but, once, while I was but a child, she told me in her wise, yet simple way, that
my Mom had spent her youth learning piano, and, I should find out what she learned in
her youth to that effect. I did (my mom's 1st song was "Some Enchanted Evening", and,
so, I learned it, so I could record it, and pass it her way)
, and am eternally grateful to her for the suggestion.
She also, in her wise, but simple way, implied how beautiful O Sole Mio was to her
ears, and, I listened, and once put together the piece for her while in the Navy,
a compilation of her accord. I actually went to the library, and checked out the book.
I am sad, as are many others that Vincenza has passed to a greater plane of existence,
but, am elated, as are many others that her joy in life was something that comes in
very few lifetimes. Elated, that a person can truly embody God's love, and, convey
that in all it's nuances to her family, in a sense that lends reality to what is God.
True faith.
I'm in envy, yet she lives in Heaven, now, and;
That is the greatest justice of all. I've cried more in that past 7 days, than, in my
whole life, but, of selfishness. Her beaming face, and her words while I was just a
neophite whipper-snapper on the ivories were gems to explore, will reside in my mind
forever. She asked me once to record this, and, I did. I will put my rendition here,
after the melee is done. For now, please, pray to God, and ask Him to welcome His new soul,
into His House. Not that she'll need it. Heaven, will only be better than it would have been without her presence.
'O sole mio (Best I could do on short notice was a midi file; to be improved shortly)
(G. Capurro/E. Di Capua, 1898)
Che bella cosa na jurnata 'e sole,
n'aria serena doppo na tempesta!
Pe' ll'aria fresca pare già na festa...
Che bella cosa na jurnata 'e sole.
Ma n'atu sole
cchiù bello, oje ne'.
'o sole mio
sta 'nfronte a te!
Quanno fa notte e 'o sole se ne scenne,
me vene quase 'na malincunia;
sotto 'a fenesta toia restarria
quanno fa notte e 'o sole se ne scenne.
Ma n'atu sole
cchiù bello, oje ne'.
'o sole mio
sta 'nfronte a te!
